Deputy Head of School
Mr. Josh Doubleday is a distinguished Canadian educator who has worked across Canadian, UK, IB and American Curriculum schools, in Canada, China, Thailand and the UAE for the past 20 years.
Mr. Doubleday began his educational journey as an Art teacher and he quickly progressed into pastoral care as well as school improvement and development. He has helped design schools, lead accreditations, has been a Dean of Students, an Assistant Principal and a Principal in all school divisions.
Mr. Doubleday was instrumental in the success of GEMS Dubai American Academy when it won the prestigious award of Best American School. He was previously at GEMS American Academy from 2012-2015 and is thrilled to return after 10 years away.
Mr. Doubleday believes in servant leadership, and building a school culture based on trust and mutual respect. In addition, he encourages students to take ownership of their learning journey in an environment that is positive and caring with opportunities to grow leadership skills.
Mr. Doubleday is here with his wife who is a high school counselor and they have two amazing daughters. He is an artist as well and enjoys creating stone sculptures, paintings and drawings. He also loves to mountain bike, travel, read and cook.
