Principal's Welcome Back Message

Ian Deakin

Greetings everyone

We hope and trust that each family in our community has enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends or experienced a great adventure during this school holiday.  We know that every family returns to GAA full of excitement and anticipation – eager to experience the opportunities a new school year brings.

We have been busy during your absence. Our newest teachers are already settled and enjoying their orientation to Abu Dhabi and GAA.  They have been introduced to our curriculum and our technology and they understand fully their obligation to extend GAA’s Culture of Kindness.  They are, to an individual, great people—enthusiastic, energetic and interesting.  I know already that they will  enhance our existing staff of excellent teachers and role models for our students.  This week, returning teachers join the ‘new recruits’ and together they will organize resources, prepare their rooms and lessons as well as plan special events like:   Back to School Night (Sept 15th), and Hopes and Dreams Day (Sept 22nd).

Our Facilities Team is busy putting the final (finishing?) touches to the campus. With enrolment up almost 100 students from last year (opening enrolment is expected to be 410 students) we have provided six (6) new classrooms. We are particularly pleased with the new Pre-K classrooms: they are bigger and brighter, they look just great!   The Faculty Lounge has been moved and enlarged to meet the needs of our growing number of professional teachers and teaching assistants.  Every wall in the school has been painted; floors have been polished and windows cleaned – so the classrooms and hallways are wonderfully bright and cheery.

We all know how busy the first few weeks of school are, and how important it is to stay informed, so please visit this website often and begin to develop the habit of checking the school calendar posted here for updates. Important information regarding Ramadan timings, Kelvin Caterers, Zak’s Uniform Shop, Bus service, ADEC Inspection results and the New GAA in Khalifa City are already available.
This promises to be an exciting year at GAA and we are really pleased that your family will share in the experience.

With every good wish

Ian Deakin
CEO & Principal
